TOUR DE BREW QC
We are sending this message because we had to make changes to Tour de Brew QC Round 6. The Mississippi is flooding again and expected to hit a record setting high on May 1. This means for the safety of all of you we implemented a Flood Plan.
The ride time has been adjusted to have bikes depart the Front Street Tap Room at 10:00 AM. Please note you will need to park on the streets or the parking ramps in downtown Davenport. We will post this information on our website qctourdebrew.com.
The route has been modified as we are not able to safely navigate through the city of Moline, IL to access Rapids City and Port Byron without using city streets. The City streets are presenting a hazard because they are already experiencing increased traffic due to flood and bridge construction detours. In addition drivers on these streets are not used to bike traffic.
The Front Street Brewery tap room, will serve as our official pre-party, packet pick-up on Friday night, along with the start and stop for the ride on Saturday, May 4. The tap room is located at The Freight House, 421 W River Drive in Davenport, Iowa. It is located on the banks of the Mississippi River. The business is accessible and excited we are all coming yet you will just need to park in the parking ramps or streets of Davenport.
Riders will depart Front Street Tap Room at 10:00 AM. 10:00 AM is a revised depature time. Riders will use Second Street to head east. Riders will access the Government Bridge via the Betchel Park Access Path off of SEcond Street. It is impoortant to note we will have volunteers along the route to guide you. Your first stop will be Wake Brewing. Wake will greet you with a special brew. In addition the LeClaire Volunteer Fire Assoociation will be scrambling up your breakfast buritto. For those of you not so anxious to grab a beer at 10:30 Cool Beanz Coffee Coach will also be serving up hot cups of joe! From Wake continue East on the Bike Path to Rock Island Brewing Company. Rock Island Brewing Company is putting together an afternoon of fun and games plus great drink and food specials for you. Riders will venture back to Iowa via the bike path and the government bridge stopping at Great River Brewery. Great River Brewery has lots of fun in store for you including River Rat their famous Root Beer.
For those of you who are looking for a longer bike ride or were planning on starting in Illiniwick Forrest Preseerve the owners of the Edge in Rapids City are still throwing a party on May 4. There intention is to have drink and food specials along with Live Music.
Your safety is our number 1 concern. We appreciate your understanding of a modified Tour de Brew QC! While we can not control the river we know we can still have an amazing day riding bikes and enjoying our friends!
I hope you choose to come out to ride for those who CAN'T because you CAN! Our Charities have expressed appreciation of the funding and advocacy they get from Tour de Brew QC. The charities need for our fund raising is why I know we can pull this off. The ride may be shorter but there is nothing that says you can't do it multiple times.
For those joing us on the walk start time remains the same. In Davenport you will detour to the side walk on Second Street versus the bike path which is predicted to be underwater by 3 feet.
Packet pick up is from 3-7 on Friday, May 3, at Front Street Tap Room 421. W. River Drive. The Generations Band will be playing live music from 4-8. Front Street will be donating a $1 from each Pint sold to our charities and Anotlella's II will be donating a $1 from each slice sold too. So even if you can not ride join us for pizza and a pint because you CAN! Packet pick up will resume on Saturday, May 4 at 9:00 AM.
Because of you we CAN do this!
Cheers
